WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is a gentle Japanese hands-on technique or healing modality that is used for stress reduction, relaxation and health. It is a healing technique that allows the practitioner to focus "Ki" or life force energy and transmit that energy to another person. The word Reiki is composed of two Japanese words - "Rei" which can be translated as universal, higher power, or God’s wisdom, and "Ki" which can be translated as "Spiritual or life force energy." Reiki promotes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing. Reiki is simple and safe. The client remains fully clothed and can be either sitting, or lying on a massage table while the practitioner gently places their hands on or above them. Reiki can be used in conjunction with any other healing modalities, conventional or alternative, and has no harmful side effects.
WHAT CAN REIKI DO FOR ME?
Reiki can help you heal on mental, emotional and physical levels. Reiki treatments can positively compound the effects of traditional therapies. A wonderful effect of a Reiki attunement is to shift your energies in a more positive direction. Many Reiki students find themselves becoming more calm and relaxed, and are able to focus more on their spiritual path, whatever that path may be. You see the ability to heal yourself and others is not the primary purpose of Reiki, although it is a wonderful benefit. Following your path to enlightenment, or becoming everything you were meant to be, is the true and original purpose of Reiki.
IS REIKI A RELIGION OR CULT?
Reiki it is not a religion or a cult, and has no dogma, although Reiki does emanate from the Divine Spirit. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus and other belief systems have found that Reiki enriches their life by allowing them to directly experience divine healing energy, and have found that Reiki has a positive transforming effect.
WHAT ABOUT REIKI AND CHRISTIANITY?
Christianity has a long history of healing, and Jesus healed by touching people. If you are a Christian but have no resource for learning hands-on healing, then Reiki is something you should consider. Here is a website created by Christian Reiki practitioners that can explain it in-depth and answer your questions. http://www.christianreiki.org/
HOW DO I LEARN REIKI?
Reiki can be easily learned by anyone. The ability to transmit Reiki energy is transferred from a Reiki Master Teacher to the student by a process called an attunement. An attunement is a process by which the student becomes more "tuned in" to the Reiki energy, much like tuning in to a radio or television station. The signal becomes more powerful and "noise" is minimized.
There are four levels of attunement in the system of Reiki taught at Reiki Haus.
The First Degree (Shoden) class introduces the student to energy healing, teaches the history of Reiki, and teaches hand positions for treating the self and others, and Japanese Reiki meditations.
In the Second Degree (Okuden) class, symbols are taught that increase the power of the Reiki energy, and enhance the mental, emotional and distance healing ability. Japanese techniques such as healing with the eyes and healing with the breath are also included, as well as the Hatsurei Ho meditation.
In the Reiki Master Practitioner (Shinpiden) the student is given the Master symbol, taught a powerful psychic surgery technique developed by William Rand, a Reiki moving meditation, and the use of crystals is introduced.
In the Master Teacher Class (Gokukaiden), the Master symbol is given, an advanced Reiki meditation is taught, a healing attunement developed by William Rand is taught, and the student gains the ability to attune others to all levels of Reiki. I will also teach you the Tibetan Master symbol if you so desire.
Gendai Reiki, a Japanese form of Reiki that is not of the Hayashi-Takata lineage, is also integrated into the classes at Reiki Haus. (It does originate with Usui, but from there it consists primarily of members of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai - definitely not "New Age.") You will learn simple yet powerful purely Japanese techniques, meditations, and energy clearing techniques that are not taught by other Reiki Masters in the area.
Please see Classes and Events for more information regarding class content.
